(ABC 6 News) - Police say it’s not the kind of response they’d recommend – a clerk chased a would-be robber out of his store with a pair of scissors.

It happened Friday at the T-Mobile store on West Oakland Avenue in Austin.

The 57-year-old clerk said two young men came into the store. One of them stayed near the door while the other pulled a hand gun and demanded money.

Instead, the clerk says he picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed at the robber with the gun.

The clerk said he might have hit the suspect in the left hand, arm or side.

The robbers ran away without getting any money.

Police notified Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin to be on the lookout for someone seeking treatment for a stab wound.

There are no suspects.
