Nick O'Brien

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- "I saw the holes and I went through them and I just got touchdowns," Nick O'Brien said.

For Century's new running back, it was as easy as that.
In the first half of the Panthers season opener against Mankato East, O'Brien scored two touchdowns, both on 10-yard carries, and did it with a little style.

"I got to the five-yard line and I had like five people on me, so I just kept driving and eventually fell through the hole and got a touchdown," said O'Brien.

But for the junior, these touchdowns came as no surprise.

"He actually told me right before the play when we sent him in, he goes 'I want to score a touchdown on this one.' So it just kind of proves his determination," said head coach Jon Vik.

It definitely takes determination to go out and run for 146 yards on 15 carries. But the modest O'Brien gives his teammates most the credit.

"The offensive linemen opened up the hole very well for me and I couldn't do it without them," said O'Brien.

Now the question is, after such a strong start to the season, can he go out and do it again next week?
"I honestly think I have a lot more ability to do better than I did," said O'Brien.
"I would hope that he would continue on with this trend. It would be great if he could do the same thing again this Friday night," said Vik.
