(ABC 6 NEWS) -- With DMC the City of Rochester and the surrounding area is expected to double in size. Some of that growth is already being seen around town.

You could say things are moving fast at Affordable Buttons in Rochester.

"We're really excited about making the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S." said Linda Christopherson.

Owner Christopherson says business has been so great, they've had to expand to a new production site in west Rochester.

"We used to be sardines over there just kind of really squished in there, so it's nice to have more space and more room for inventory," said Christopherson.

It's this type of success that has others wanting to get in on the action.

"We've wanted to expand for a long time and as we looked at different markets, Rochester was such an obvious choice," said Pete Paulsen.

Paulsen is the owner of First Tech out of Minneapolis. They are one of the first Apple computer retailers in the county. He’s excited to open up their new store in the Apache Mall.

"It's a vital market, it’s growing, and the market is really underserved, so we’re excited to open up our Apple store here," said Paulsen.

First Tech isn't the only new business the area has seen.

"It's been a really exciting time these past few months," said Judy Braatz.

Braatz of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce says this is only the beginning.

"We've had some great expansion of existing businesses and some new businesses, were going to see more and more of that," said Braatz.

At Affordable Buttons they are planning to expand to offer more local products. Which means growth in Rochester is good news.

"Rochester is just booming around us, so we're excited about all of it," said Christopherson.

First Tech is planning on opening in the beginning of October. They held a job fair Friday and are hoping to hire around 20 employees.
