ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The board of directors for Minnesota's health insurance exchange are meeting a day after state lawmakers scolded them for neglecting minorities in their initial enrollment drive.
The MNsure board meeting on Wednesday was already scheduled. But it comes in the wake of a legislative oversight panel's Tuesday meeting that saw lawmakers from both parties dress down MNsure's executive director and board chairman.
At issue was decisions about how to allocate $4 million in grants to groups that will help people enroll in the online insurance marketplace. MNsure is the customer portal for delivering changes under the federal healthcare overhaul.
MNsure's director, April Todd-Malmlov, defended decisions about grants so far and says efforts have been made to reach diverse communities.
MNsure goes live on October 1.
