A Le Sueur man was killed in a four-vehicle crash Friday morning at Highway 55 and Boone Avenue North in Golden Valley.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a minivan driven by 66-year-old Shirley Knutson of Plymouth was driving eastbound on Highway 55 when it turned left against a red arrow traffic light.

Lt. Eric Roeske said the semi truck, driven by 64-year-old Joseph Johnson which was westbound, collided with Knutson's minivan, crashed into a traffic light on the corner and burst into flames.

The minivan went spinning into a Metro Mobility car driven by 25-year-old Axas Yang of Minneapolis and crashed into a traffic light, Roeske said. A fourth vehicle, driven by 72-year-old Leo Kuglin of Golden Valley was hit by the semi, receiving minor damage.

Johnson was trapped in the cab. Investigators said he died in the fire following the crash.

Knutson was taken to North Memorial Medical Center. She was listed in stable condition Saturday. No one else was in the van.

The state patrol reports Yang and Kuglin had no apparent injuries.

Highway 55 from Highway 169 in Plymouth to County Road 156 in Golden Valley was closed Friday after the crash.
