A federal judge has dismissed a series of class actions claims against the state of Minnesota, relating to a Department of Natural Resources employee accessing drivers records.
U.S. District Judge Joan Ericksen on Friday granted a motion by Minnesota General Lori Swanson's office to dismiss the cases.
The consolidated lawsuits targeted both the DNR and the state Department of Public Safety.
Ericksen said the state could not be held liable for the actions of former DNR enforcement officer John Hunt. Hunt was fired after officials said he inappropriately accessed the records of thousands of Minnesotans.
Hunt also was named as a defendant. He also faces criminal charges.
