OELWEIN, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a 14-year-old girl in northeast Iowa was driving a vehicle before it crashed and injured several teens who were riding on top of the car.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says the girl was driving the car at a high speed in Oelwein before it entered a ditch and rolled over.
KWWL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/16MYS6K ) three other teenagers and a 12-year-old were passengers in the car at the time. Police say three passengers were riding on top of the vehicle in a practice known as car surfing. They were thrown from the car during the crash.
The station says the young driver and passengers were transported to a local hospital. Additional information about their conditions has not been released.
Police say charges are pending.
