(ABC 6 News) - A group of Boy Scouts may have played a role in clearing up an assault case for the Rochester Police Department Monday night.
Police say the scouts were standing across the street from a house on the 600 block of 3rd Avenue, when a man exited the house and started assaulting another man.
The suspect allegedly started the assault after finding the other man snooping around his home during a visit. The suspect told police he thought the man was homeless and was trying to steal food from him.
The Boy Scouts watched as the suspect chased the victim out of the house hitting him with a stick.
The suspect is facing misdemeanor assault charges. The scouts were interviewed as witnesses.
