(ABC 6 News) - The NRHEG School District says a man with a felony warrant caused school lockdowns in New Richland and Ellendale earlier today.
According to the district's website, the New Richland building was in a hard lock down and the Ellendale was in a soft lockdown as a precaution. The schools website stated an escaped felon was hiding in a cornfield one mile south of New Richland.
However, police now believe the suspect may have stolen a car and was never in the area to begin with. They think he may have fled in a black Honda Pilot. Students were released from school in a normal fashion.
We will have the latest on the search for the suspect and reactions from parents and school officials on ABC 6 News at 10:00.
