(ABC 6 News) - A Rochester police dog and his officer received top honors yesterday in the United States Police Canine Association Trials.

Rochester Police Officer Mike Drees and his partner Chase took first place in the Criminal Apprehension category of the competition.

The scores are based on obedience, agility, bite, and recall. Chase and Drees scored 337.67 out of a possible 340 points.

Drees and Chase also competed as a team made up of several other K-9 units from St. Paul, Washington County and St. Croix County.

The combined  team took 7th place overall.

Over 80 dogs competed in the competition.
