(ABC 6 News) -- Since the beginning of the school year, every Wednesday we have been honoring area educators with Excellent Educators.
This week, we surprise two teachers with the award.
Samantha Kubista and Chris Logan are not only teachers at Gage Elementary in Rochester, but long time friends.
"I don't know, it was like ten years ago, we just kind of hit it off from there," says Kubista
They taught side by side up until last year, when they decided to teach together.
"We came up with this crazy idea to hang out more often and pull both of our classes together and teach everybody at the same time," says Logan.
As 5th grade co-teachers, they have more than 40 students in their dual classroom.
Learning can be a little hectic, but also a lot of fun. "We keep the kids as active as possible, we do silly and goofy things and try to keep them moving around," says Logan.
"We build a community with our kids the comradery that we have together and the fun that we have, makes teaching and learning more enjoyable," says Kubista.
Here's to the next ten years.
