(ABC 6 News) -- “Pretty awesome to have 90-year old guys come to your business and they’re still raising money for a great cause,” said Matt Graibrok.

Saturday was the unveiling of a new veterans’ memorial at Bohemian Cemetery in Hayward Township. It was a wish of three elder veterans to make it happen.

“We just thought it was a good idea,” said Emil Erantner.

Erantner says there is room for a lot more names to be added to the memorial, which stands next to two life-sized soldier statues and seven flag holders. It also bares the names of the 40-plus veterans buried at the cemetery.

“There’s so many families in a small community like this that have veterans, and they just feel good about honoring, and a memorial like this is very meaningful to our community,” said veteran Dean Adams.

Local businesses and community members helped donate money for the project, but the biggest gift came through funding from a matching grant given by the Daughters From the American Revolution. The donation was $10,000.

The community is still looking to raise money for a seating area around the memorial.
