(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Four Austin men face charges following the weekend armed robbery of a convenience store.

It happened just before nine o'clock Sunday morning.

A clerk said four men entered the Freeborn Co-op convenience store in Lyle and demanded money. One of the men was carrying a handgun.

The men fled north out of Lyle, and police set up a perimeter on the south edge of Austin.

Officers stopped the suspect vehicle and arrested four men.

They are Vonzell Whitehead, 28, Tuquan Smith, 24, Kieon Clay, 42, and Elgin Green, 20.  The group is expected to face charges Tuesday.

A search of their car reportedly turned up a handgun and cash and checks from the store in Lyle.

The suspects were jailed, pending formal charges.

No one was hurt.
