Thousands of Minnesotans came together Thursday to honor Zach Sobiech's memory by singing his song "Clouds."

Sobiech was a Stillwater High graduate who died earlier this year of cancer. "Clouds" rose to number one on iTunes after his death.

The group gathered at Mall of America as part of Ryan & Shannon's 'KS95 for Kids' Radiothon, which benefits the Children's Cancer Research Fund and Gillette Children's Hospital.

KSTP spoke with Sobiech's mom Laura about the things that make her think of Zach. "Our thing with Zach is guitar picks and we find guitar picks at odd moments, special moments, so that's been happening today. I've heard that there's been a double-rainbow over the Mall of America today, which is a little odd for December," she said.

Sobiech was 18-years-old at the time of his death. He wrote the song right before he lost his battle to cancer in May. It reached more than 8 million views on YouTube.
