(ABC 6 News) --- Tracy Boyum teaches kindergarten at the Byron Community Education Center.
"It's the kids that bring me here every day," she says, "it's the honesty they bring with them, their eagerness to learn, its exciting."
Mrs. Boyum is in her 26th year and says in that time, teaching has changed. Technology being the biggest change.
"We have iPad's in the classroom, one dad was like, my daughter wants an iPad for Christmas and I wasn't prepared for that at this age," says Boyum.
On Wednesday the class was doing math lessons with smart boards.
"The kids just love this number crunching game, they all get really involved," she says.
And after more than two decades, Mrs. Boyum says, she herself, has seen change too.
"Continuing to learn myself in my own way, my own professional growth has been exciting."
