Police Arrest Rochester Man Wanted for Three Felonies

(ABC 6 News) - Rochester police arrested a man Thursday morning for tampering with a car downtown. Turns out, police were already looking for the suspect.

They say Joseph Zayas, of Rochester, already had three felony warrants out for his arrest.

Police say two construction workers were walking to their car, parked at 7th Avenue and 1st Street NW in downtown Rochester, when they say they saw Zayas in their car. They confronted hime and got into a fight. An RPU truck was passing by, the driver saw the brawl and called police.

Authorities say Zayas was high on drugs when they arrested him. They say he admitted to smoking meth and was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary’s Campus.

Zayas is now facing charges of tampering with a motor vehicle charge, on top of his three prior felony warrants which involve burglary and theft.
