Brook Irish

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Brook Irish couldn't wait to start the basketball season, but after just two practices, her season came to a halt.

She found herself on the bench with Achilles tendentious.

"It was really hard, especially those first couple of days," Irish said. "Right before Christmas is when I started being able to shoot and lightly jog."

Brook has been back on the court for about a month now.

"It's just really good to get back with the team and be a part of it," said Irish.

"She's moving really well, she's running the floor really well, her shot is coming, her footwork is better, so she's really come a long way," said Chatfield head coach Brian Baum.

Last week against Rushford-Peterson, Brook had a team-high 13 points to go with her nine rebounds.

"She's always been a good shooter. I'm not sure she thinks she is all the time. She's one who hasn't quite figured out how good she is," said Baum.

What makes her such a good player is her ability to control both ends of the floor.

"She jumps quite well; she's probably a true shot blocker on the defensive end. In the last line of defense, if it's her against somebody I'll take my odds with her because she jumps so well, she plays bigger than 5'11"," said Baum.

And as the number one team in the Three Rivers Conference right now, Chatfield welcomes Brook back with open arms.

"I'm sure a lot of people come in and think it's their goal to beat us and as long as we just keep doing what we're doing, I think we could be fine and get a long way," said Irish.
