Updates on several stories we brought concerning car crashes and fire victims.
(ABC 6 News) – We have number of updates on stories we have brought you this past week:
UPDATE ON 6-YEAR OLD BEMIDJI GIRL
The 6-year old girl who was found in an apartment entry way wearing a coat, hat, gloves and boots is now said to have died of hypothermia.
Police say she showed signs of prolonged exposure outside. The temperature at that time was -27 degrees, and the wind chill was close to -40 degrees.
Because all of her family has not been notified, her name is not being released.
FUNERAL HELD FOR 5 CHILDREN KILLED IN MINNEAPOLIS FIRE
Hundreds gathered to show support to the five children killed in the Minneapolis duplex fire that happened on Valentine’s Day.
Five small white caskets were lined up in front of the Shiloh Temple Church as family and friends comforted father Troy Lewis.
The five children who were killed were 18-month old Gwendolyn, 3-year old Troy, 4-year old Fannie, 6-year old Mary and 8-year old Christopher.
Lewis and his two other daughters survived. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
VIGIL HELD FOR 3 CARLETON COLLEGE STUDENTS.
A vigil was held at Carleton College this morning after three students were killed and two more injured when their SUV hit a semi-truck on an icy highway. The scene of the accident was less than three miles from the school.
James Adams, Paxton Harviuex, and Michael Goodgame were all killed in that crash.
The three friends were all on their school’s ultimate Frisbee team.
Two other students, the driver and the another passenger, are still in the hospital.
ANOTHER FATAL ACCIDENT IN BLUE EARTH
Another fatal accident, this time in Blue Earth which is in Fairbault County.
Police say three teen-agers in a Ford Ranger were involved in a crash when the driver lost control.
The roads were icy and the 16-year old driver died.
PLAINVIEW WOMAN DIES FROM THURSDAY’S CRASH
A sad update involving a crash we first told you about Thursday.
Friends confirm to ABC 6 News that 22-year old Mandi Seefeldt of Plainview has died. They tell us Mandi’s organs are being donated.
The State Patrol says Seefeldt went through a stop sign at an intersection near Eyota Thursday afternoon and crashed into a pick-up truck.
She was airlifted to Saint Marys where she passed away.
