MN Gov. Orders Flags to Half Staff For Soldier's Funeral

(ABC 6 News) - Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half staff for a Minnesota soldier recently killed in Afghanistan.

As we've reported, the body of Corporal Caleb Erickson is being brought back to his hometown of Waseca on Saturday for his funeral which is set for Monday. Governor Dayton has ordered the flags to be lowered at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Monday.

Erickson graduated from Waseca High School in 2012 and was assigned to the United States Marines' 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force. He was known for his smile and contagious, positive attitude, his whole-hearted approach to life, and his love for country and desire to protect and serve.

Erickson was 20 years old.
