(ABC 6 News) -- Starting this fall the Triton High School Cobras will be playing on a new football field. The school board voted 4 to 3 Monday night in favor of installing a turf field.
The project would cost about $660,000, but Pat McNeilus has offered to pay $400,000 of that.
In February, Triton's activities director Don Henderson told ABC 6 News that turf is safer than grass for the athletes, and it would allow for a longer practice season.
According to Triton School Board Chair Jon Streiff, the next step is to coordinate the installation of the field this summer.
