(ABC 6 News) -- Officials in Byron say a bond referendum put before voters on Tuesday has passed. District official say 1071 voted in favor of the bond, while 840 voted no.
The bond will be used for a new $25.3 million building which will house students in pre-kindergarten through 2nd grade. The new building will be located next to the current elementary school.
BPS Superintendent Jeff Elstad says the population is growing leading to overcrowding in the schools. Kindergarten classes were forced to move into the Community Ed Building, and now both are at capacity.
