MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Reid Travis scored 16 points on 8-for-9 shooting, and DeLaSalle overwhelmed Austin again in the Class 3A boys state championship game during a 60-40 victory on Saturday night.
Travis, who will play at Stanford next season, finished his high school career with three straight titles. The Islanders (26-3) beat Austin for the last two, following last year's 50-33 breeze with another smooth sprint to the trophy. The 6-foot-8 Travis had four inches on Austin's tallest player, and the Islanders had too much athleticism for the Packers (28-4) to match.
Ajuda Nywesh kept the margin manageable early by fearlessly flinging 3-pointers -- he made 4 of 5 in the first half -- and finished with 24 points. Zach Wessels, the all-time leading scorer in Austin's program history, had only four points.
