Authorities are investigating after six similar robberies occurred at Minnesota restaurants this week.

According to John Elder with the Minneapolis Police Department, three masked men robbed Subway at 2400 E. Hennepin Ave. shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday.

The men were wearing gloves and were armed with handguns. They forced an employee into the cooler and left with cash, a backpack and cellphone, according to Elder.

The employee was able to get out of the cooler shortly after the suspects left and called police. The employee was not injured in the robbery.

According to Elder, the robberies are very similar to at least three other robberies in Minneapolis recently. The other robberies occurred at Subway restaurants on Cedar Avenue South and 50th Street West and Quiznos on Washington Avenue South.

Suspects with a similar description robbed a Subway restaurant in St. Anthony Thursday.

According to St. Anthony Police, three men robbed Subway in the St. Anthony Shopping Center on Pentagon Drive at 8:30 a.m. Police say the men took money, and then left.

According to Minnetonka Police, the Lone Spur Grill and Bar on Cedar Lake Road in Minnetonka also reported a similar robbery Monday. Police say gunmen came into the restaurant before it opened and took workers' wallets and cellphones.

Police are working to determine if the robberies are connected.
