(ABC 6 News) – Two teenagers were busted when a neighbor caught them trying to drag a safe through the yard.
The call came from the 1600 block of Century Hills Drive NE just before 1:00pm Thursday. A neighbor told police they saw a teen, later identified as 18-year-old Cody Quam of Rochester, dragging a safe through their neighbors backyard. The caller told police Quam was trying to wave down a maroon SUV and that he and the driver had been communicating with portable radios. Police say at some point Quam got in the vehicle and the driver went back toward the house.
The vehicle was eventually pulled over. Police say Quam had a cut on his hand. Police later found blood on a broken window at the home. The second suspect is a juvenile and as a result, his name is not being released.
Both suspects are facing charges of burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools.
There have been reports of other burglaries nearby, but police say this is not related because the two teenagers knew the alleged victim.
