MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - The annual sculpture swap in Mason City has begun.
The Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1gcMgra ) volunteers from a weightlifting organization heaved nearly two dozen bronze sculptures onto a waiting trailer on Wednesday morning.
Numerous limestone bases will be empty until May, when new sculptures will take their place.
The changing sculptures are organized by River City Sculptures on Parade, which places sculptures throughout Mason City. People can buy the sculptures, which are removed from city property after a year on display.
Some that are purchased end up being donated to the city and displayed in other locations.
