(ABC 6 News) -- Hundreds of women gathered at Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester today. They spent the entire day at a Christian based conference. The musical duo playing there write modern hymns that can be heard in churches all around the world.

The room was packed with women of all ages for the Devoted Hearts Conference. A time for women of faith step away from their busy life and revitalize.

"This is a yearly refreshing for me,” said Rebecca Miller of Rochester.

"I really enjoy the fact that we are able to minister to women in all walks of life, from young adulthood to being a grandmother,” said Tracy Howe of Rochester.

It's the 8th year this conference has been held in Rochester, and this year, the duo leading worship write songs heard in churches around the world.

"We started in the year 2000 trying to really reinvent the old hymn genre in the way that works for contemporary people,” said Keith Getty. Keith and Kristyn Getty are modern hem writers who's most popular song "In Christ Alone" is among the top 10 worship hymns in America.

"Music is such as fantastic way of speaking into daily life and the stuff that we deal with as moms and friends as daughters as women,” said Kristyn Getty.

"There one of my favorites, to have hymns that I sing all the time and to see who actually wrote them, it means something to me,” said Miller.

Whether through music, devotion or speakers, the goal is these women walk away re-energized.

"Conferences like this provide a retreat for women to come away and sort of regroup, rethink, be inspired and comforted,” said Kristyn.

"I come away with something new every year that gets me through a few more hard times,” said Miller.

The Devoted Hearts Conference is organized by several churches in the Rochester area.
