(ABC 6 NEWS) -- "It seems like in that number three slot in our lineup, I've been writing 'Jayden Prigge' in there forever now," Kasson-Mantorville baseball coach Broc Threinen said.
Prigge has been starting for the Komets since his freshman year, and since that time, K-M has won two section titles, on one state championship.
"He's been to two state tournaments," Threinen said. "He's played in five state tournament games, and that means a lot to the other kids."
"I take pride in being a senior on the field and helping out, and I'm glad the underclassmen can step up and be a part of the team, also," Prigge said.
Earlier this week, Prigge picked up his 39th career double, breaking the state record.
"I really didn't know I was coming up on the record until a few weeks ago when my dad said something about it," Prigge said. "I didn't really change anything, just kept hitting, and the record came."
"Anytime of the year, he's in the batting cage with one of (the coaches) during the summer, or with his dad in the fall," Threinen said. "He puts in a ton of work."
"I'd give a lot (of the credit) to my dad," Prigge said. "He's helped me in the cages and all the way through to this point."
