(ABC 6 News) -- This weeks Excellent Educator is from Byron.

Alicia Camarillo teaches Spanish at Byron High School.

"It's kind of fun to see them in front of the classroom even though they get nervous, but they are speaking it and showing what they have learned," says Camarillo.

Camarillo moved to the United States from Mexico 25 years ago and has been teaching the last 18 years.  She says she got into teaching to be near her children.

"I wanted to be with him during the same time and I just learned to like it," she says.

She also wants her students to know the value of speaking two languages.

"I can talk all day about the benefits more two languages, just getting more opportunities for jobs and communicating with people, they are able to understand a little more because their exposed to the languages already," says Camarillo.

When asked how do you say congratulations in Spanish? Camarillo says," felicidades."

Felicidades Ms. Camarillo!
