(KSTP) - A 55-year-old Andover man has died from his injuries after his landlord allegedly doused him with an accelerant and lit him on fire, Anoka County Sheriff's Commander Paul Sommer confirmed in a Tweet on Thursday morning.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 1300 block of 137th Lane Northwest around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a possible house fire. When deputies arrived, they found a severely-burned 55-year-old man, and a suspect was seen fleeing the residence.

The victim was sent to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition, with 80 percent of his body covered in burns, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. He has since died from his injuries.

The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Adam John Lilienthal of Andover. Officials say he and the tenant lived at the same address in Andover.

Deputies were called to the home earlier that same evening on a landlord-tenant dispute, but no crime had been committed at that time, the sheriff’s office said.

Officers learned Lilienthal had access to a cabin near Orr, Minnesota, and a statewide alert was issued for his arrest; Lilienthal was arrested Tuesday night by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office but has not yet been charged.

The name of the victim has not been released.
