(ABC 6 NEWS) -- An investigation is underway after police say somebody fired as many as six shots from a SUV in a residential area of Rochester.

It happened shortly before midnight Wednesday along the 2800 block of Knollwood Drive Southeast.

Police say there was a gathering at a house and some sort of argument started. That's when a black SUV drove down the road firing gunshots into the air.

Neighbors ABC 6 News talked with say it is typically a quiet area.

"I asked my neighbor what was going on and they said they'd lived here for ten years and never had any problems in the neighborhood. Then all of the sudden we have cops galore," says Karen Blizzard.

Police have been talking with the people at the home where it's believed the confrontation began. Nobody has been arrested.

The Rochester Police Department encourages anyone with information to call authorities.
