(ABC 6 NEWS) -- It's never easy to repeat as champions, mainly due to that giant target on a team's back, and the Grand Meadow Superlarks are no exception.

The defending nine-man champs are reloading for another run, anchored by their standout running back Landon Jacobson.

"We have high expectations for Landon, but we have high expectations for other guys, too," Grand Meadow head coach Gary Sloan said.

The Superlarks did lose two key contributors from last year's squad, quarterback Trenton Bleifus and center Isaac Tangen, but their senior class is larger than last year.

"We're trying not to think about last year's season," quarterback/wide receiver Blake Olson said.

Grand Meadow opens the 2014 season against LeRoy-Ostrander Aug. 29.
