Reporter, Anchor Maria Guerrero landed in the Land of Enchantment after a 1,200 mile journey through five states.
She joined the KOB Eyewitness News 4 team in May 2012. Previously, Maria was an anchor, reporter at WISC-TV in Madison, Wisconsin. During her time in the Badger State, Maria covered some big stories including Super Bowl 45. But it was a story about the record-number of homeless students in the school district Maria says will stay with her for a long time. Her report is leading to new efforts in Madison to help students in need.
Maria was born in Juarez, Mexico, but calls Lufkin, Texas home. Lufkin is about an hour and a half north of Houston.
She got her "big break" in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she was a reporter at WAFB-TV while still in college.
Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and minor in international studies from Louisiana State University. (Geaux Tigers!)
Maria looks forward to the warm people of New Mexico, the beautiful sunrises, more manageable winters, and, of course, the yummy food! P.S. Red or Green? Red :)
