This week's Best Bites is celebrating Balloon Fiesta. Instead of checking out the foods everyone already knows and loves, we sought out some of the more unique and off the wall foods.
It was like a trip around the country and around the world, after all, it is the International Balloon Fiesta.
At the south end of the field we checked out Hot Dogs a la Carte. But it's not your typical hot dog.
"We serve Alaskan reindeer sausage," says owner Alexander Villa. "Not Rudolph," he adds. "We wouldn't do anything to Rudolph, but it is reindeer and it's very good."
At Heidy's Latin Grill, they are cooking up Colombian Arepas. "It tastes really really good. It's like a corn meal or corn cake made out of sweet corn and mozzarella cheese in the middle," says co-owner Auguste Bohler.
Over at Island Noodles, you can get a taste of Hawaii. Twenty-one vegetables plus noodles are cooked up in a scorching hot wok. It's a perfect option for vegans since the noodles are buckwheat, meaning there is no egg in it.
Or if you're feeling a French delicacy in your future, you can check out the frog legs. We asked if they really taste like chicken. The answer: they have a chicken texture but actually taste more like fish.
