KOB Eyewitness News 4 has a long-standing commitment to covering politics in New Mexico.
That is why, as part of our Decision 2012 Election Coverage, we are giving each candidate in some of the big federal races two minutes of free airtime to explain who they are, and why you should vote for them.
Each weekday through the end of October, KOB will feature a new candidate at the 6:30 p.m. newscast.
Monday night, we have the Democratic candidate for Congress, Evelyn Madrid Erhard.
I'm Evelyn Madrid Erhard and I'm running for Congress in New Mexico Congressional District Two.
Many folks are out of work. Some are struggling with part time jobs. And, all of us are one disaster away from poverty. This is not good enough. Just like you, I'm fed up with trickle down economics. Prosperity should be for all of us.
I will work to bring jobs back from overseas. I support the preservation of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act. Steve Pearce does not support these. He voted with Paul Ryan's plan to end these most valuable programs.
I understand that people have a dream to some day own a home. I support strong public education, civil rights, and a women's right to choose what is best for her own health and well being. I support care for our veterans, labor unions, and environmental protection, including clean renewable energy.
I'm Evelyn Madrid Erhard and I want to represent you in Washington.
