The New Mexico Stars will host an open tryout on Sunday, October 28th at Cabezon Park in Rio Rancho at 3 p.m.
The Stars are entering their second season and will be returning to the Santa Ana Star Center where they played seven home games last season.
Players interested in trying out can pre-register for $50 by contacting Coach Williams at 505.891.7309 (office) or 432.934.4606 (cell).
Walk-ups are also welcome, but there will be a fee of $60 for anyone who has not pre-registered with Williams prior to October 28th.
“It provides a great opportunity for us to find and develop talent from the area that may not have been given a chance before. We saw last year that New Mexico has plenty of football talent out there and it is our job to make our football team better by finding that talent,” Williams said in a news release.
The open tryout will be held at Cabezon Park, 2307 Cabezon Blvd. in Rio Rancho.
Attendees will take part in a number of different drills in order to best assess their abilities. No equipment is needed, but cleats are recommended.
This year will be entirely different from last year as the Stars will enter the Lone Star Football League (LSFL). The Lone Star Football League is comprised of seven teams all throughout Texas which will cut out the longer road trips the team took last year to play teams such as the Everett Raptors, from Washington State and The Wyoming Cavalry.
The New Mexico Stars, presented by Santa Ana Star Casino, are the newest franchise in the Lone Star Football League which will play their home games on Don Chalmers Ford Field at Santa Ana Star Center.
