KOB Eyewitness News 4 has a long-standing commitment to covering politics in New Mexico.

That is why, as part of our Decision 2012 Election Coverage, we are giving each candidate in some of the big federal races two minutes of free airtime to explain who they are, and why you should vote for them.

Each weekday through the end of October, KOB will feature a new candidate at the 6:30 p.m. newscast.

Tuesday night, we have the Republican candidate for U.S. House, Janice Arnold-Jones.

I'm Janice Arnold-Jones. I'm running for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Mexico's first congressional district and I want your vote.

I served four terms in the New Mexico legislature working on legislation from tax policy, election law, open government to protecting your money.

I am proud of my record working across the aisle, and against the odds, to make a difference.

Whether it was starting the first rape crisis center in a military hospital, assuring that emergency responders can talk with one another, or kicking open the doors to let the sun shine into the New Mexico legislature, I know how to collaborate, listen and build consensus to find a solution.

As your representative in Congress, my priorities are clear: creating jobs, protecting our labs and bases, protecting Medicare, and Social Security for our seniors, and tackling the debt.

As a small business owner, I understand that to create jobs and get our economy moving again we must first pass a budget. Congress has not passed a budget in over three years. We can do better.

Next, pull back regulations so our business climate is attractive, sensible, and fair; simplify our tax code.

And finally, I'm committed to using New Mexico resources to achieve energy independence and that means jobs.

Now, the proposed cuts to our labs and military bases under sequestration will devastate our economy and compromise our labs national security missions. In Congress, I will stand up for the uniquely critical missions of these institutions. I'll also protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors. It's your money.

I have the experience and the integrity to make a difference for New Mexico. I did it in the legislature. I'll do it in congress.

I'm Janice Arnold-Jones. I'm asking for your vote.
