Crews are still working to contain the Midnight fire burning near Red River Saturday.
The fire has burned 363 acres and remains at zero percent containment.
A light dusting of snow occurred on the fire Friday evening, and cooler temperatures throughout the day are expected within the fire perimeter.
Forest Officials announced Friday the fire was actually smaller than previously reported due to infrared mapping showing more accurate data.
No structures are currently threatened in the fire and there have been no road closures.
Preliminary investigation of the fire indicates that the fire was human caused. No arrests have been made.
The Northern New Mexico Type 3 Incident Management Team will be turning management of the fire back to the Questa Ranger District at 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
With more people heading outdoors this weekend, Fire Managers want to remind the public that conditions are unseasonably dry, and campfires can be extremely dangerous if not treated properly. They ask people to douse campfires with enough water and stir the coals to make sure the fire is dead out before leaving.
For continued fire information please call 575-758-6235 or 575-758-6233 at the Questa Ranger District where the Incident Command Post is located.
