Over 60,000 voters in Bernalillo County have cast their ballot today, in addition to more than 185,000 early and absentee ballots.
Election workers were going through the early ballots Tuesday evening. Those ballots will be the first results announced by the county when the polls close at 7:00 p.m.
This was the first general election where Bernalillo County voters were allowed to vote at any of the 69 "My Voting Center" locations.
During this year's primary, the results came in later than expected. County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver said they've made some small changes since then.
"Tonight, we're going to have them bring down those results immediately as soon as they're done, those machines are done tabulating results. And so, they won't have to kind of wait for the other steps in the process to be complete at the polling locations so we can get those results in as quickly as possible," Oliver said.
The turnout is predicted to be in the range of 60 to 65 percent. Over 83,000 votes were cast today. That is a lower turnout than in 2008 when there was a 73 percent voter turnout.
