A major employer in Albuquerque told KOB Thursday that it plans to shut down operations in the city and move some workers to Huntsville, Ala.
GE Intelligent Platforms announced that they are transferring their "systems product line" to Huntsville.
The "systems product line" involves the making of single board computers for military and aeronautic applications.
The move will take place over next 12 months and will not be final until the end of 2013.
The company currently employs 70 employees in ABQ.
According to a spokesman, an unknown number of employees will continue to work for the company from home.
There will be approximately 40 new jobs in Huntsville - and the Albuquerque employees will have the opportunity to apply for those jobs, the spokesman said.
