Many of our neighbors suffer from hunger in silence, but KOB Eyewitness News 4 along with Roadrunner Food Bank just wrapped up its annual Food Drive Special to help those in need during the holidays.
It was complete with a Christmas tree lighting.
We were at the Post Office on Eubank and Candelaria and ABQ Uptown where our crews helped gather and load donation boxes. And things were busy in the newsroom. We had about 10 people taking calls in our newsroom as part of the food drive.
We partnered with the Roadrunner Food Bank to feed needy families this holiday season and for the year ahead. The food bank said the event means a great deal to those without any food for the holidays.
Those we spoke to said they do it because it's important to help others.
"They look forward to it every year," Bruce Gunerson, Pack 181 Cubmaster, said. "The whole pack usually shows up. We've teamed up with Troop 70, the Girl Scouts, and they all show up. So, it really helps the Steve Shift, this is one of the largest ones that receive the food. It really helps that we're all here to help them sort their food."
It's too early to know just how much was collected, but KOB 4 will let you know as soon as we learn figures.
