The San Juan County Detention Facility was placed on lockdown Saturday morning because there wasn't enough milk.
Jail officials said inmates got into a fight with detention officers after milk ran out at breakfast. Almost 40 maximum security inmates were involved.
Officers fired pepper balls at some inmates who fled to the second tier of the jail.
Officials said everyone got their normal 20 ounces of milk, but there wasn't enough for a second cup for some.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 was told no one was hurt.
