Animal Protection of New Mexico is now offering a $5,000 reward for information in a New Mexico animal abuse case.
A dog named Mercy came to veterinarians in Valencia County with gunshot wounds and gashes on her body. They think she was used to train other dogs how to fight.
Mercy had surgery on her jaw and the gunshot wounds Wednesday.
Veterinarians say she may be ready to go home to her foster family by Friday.
Anyone with information on who may have abused mercy should call the state's animal cruelty hotline at 877-5-HUMANE.
