The deadline for Medicare enrollment across this country is midnight Friday, and all the Medicare providers in New Mexico are registering people for healthcare.
One provider is at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Lomas and 1-25 until 7 p.m., Friday evening.
People can go to www.medicare.gov to see what plan is right for them, what providers are available in New Mexico, and if they currently are with Medicare, they can see if their current plan has changed.
The importance of checking plans is a plan from 2012 may not cover the same doctors or medications that it will in 2013. That is why people are available to help at Embassy Suites for the Medicare under United Healthcare, as well as the other providers in the city and state. And whatever plan that is chosen does not take long to fill out.
"Takes process, maybe takes about fifteen to thirty minutes to finalize everything. We take care of the paperwork, we send it in and then they take the information with them as they leave," Floyd Duron, a medicare provider, said.
People over 65 are eligible for Medicare, and people with disabilities or other qualifications can enroll for Medicare under 65, just go to www.medicare.gov to find out.
