With 15 days to go until Christmas, some are celebrating the season and others are going into an emotional tailspin.
The rush to find the perfect gift; the anticipation or anxiety of being with family; and the expectation to be happy when it is sometimes only a distant Christmas wish.
The added pressures of the holiday season may go hand-in-hand with an increased number of suicide cases handled by the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office every year.
"We want the community to have an outlet, to be able to get help for themselves before we have to come in as 911 call or you know bring in deputies," Sgt. Sam White said.
The Agora Crisis Center is teaming up with BCSO, standing by to offer around-the-clock assistance and let people know they are not alone.
"We'd like to become as popular as 911 for people that are feeling suicidal, that are feeling like they can't make it through this holiday season," Jeremy Jaramillo, of the Agora Crisis Center, said. "They don't need to wait 'til they're suicidal and we prefer that they not. We prefer they call us when they're just stressed out."
The Albuquerque hotline number is 505-277-3013.
"They can provide that help for you before we have to intervene or come in on behalf of your family or friends that are concerned about you," White said.
