Nehemiah Griego has been unemotional and stern throughout questioning, Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston said Tuesday, adding he also has not shown any signs of remorse after allegedly committing the most heinous crimes against his family.

"This is beyond any human reasoning or understanding," Houston said.

The only motive, Griego told investigators, was that he was mad at his mother.

"In the time our investigators spent with him, it was just a very casual, he was just frustrated with how things were and would not even articulate any further details of that frustration," Houston said.

Griego told deputies he also contemplated more killings.

"He contemplated during this time of period, while he was waiting, the possibility of going into a Walmart with mass destruction," Houston said.

Greigo has confessed to waiting for his family to go to sleep, then going into his parents’ bedroom closet.  He then explained to detectives, he took a .22 caliber rifle and shot his 40-year-old mother, 9-year-old brother, and his 5 and 2-year-old sisters in the head.

The only person Griego told, investigators said, was his 12-year-old girlfriend, who received a snapshot of the gruesome crime scene.

Five hours later, with an AR-15 rifle, Griego told detectives he killed his father, 51-year-old Greg Griego, as he walked in the door after work.

"My understanding is he was quite shocked at his arrest," Houston said.  "It's horrific, what other word can you use, I mean, this is certainly the first time that I've been to a crime scene with this much destruction at one home."

Griego told deputies he regularly played violent video games like "Modern Warfare," and "Grand Theft Auto."  He also told them his parents did not allow him to play the games but did not clarify how he had access to them.
