SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - It looks like Santa Fe won't be stiffening its penalty for jaywalking after all.

The City Council's finance committee on Tuesday unanimously rejected Councilor Ron Trujillo's proposal to increase the fine for people who don't use crosswalks to as much as $150.
The fine is currently $25.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that councilors said they want police to focus on priorities such as burglaries and other drug-related crimes.
