A Bernalillo High School student was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Wednesday afternoon.
It happened at the railroad tracks near South Oak Street in Bernalillo.  Bernalillo Police Chief Julian Gonzales says the 15-year-old boy was walking home from school, and probably did not hear the train because he had his headphones on.  When officials arrived, the boy was pronounced dead.
Residents who live across from the railroad tracks say they see students crossing the tracks every day.  But Stephany Rodriguez says she has never seen someone get hit.
"I was walking outside of my house and I just seen this gentleman rolling down the hill.  I just ran to him and I looked and I just see a body rolling down the hill," Rodriguez said.
Chief Gonzales says they have wrapped up their investigation with Amtrak.  He says it was just a tragic accident.  The boy's name has not been released.
