The Jetsons or maybe Star Wars is the first thing you think of when you think about robots or robotics. A team at Eldorado High School in Albuquerque hopes to change that.

Starting with just three brothers, the goal now is to see a robotic team at every high school in New Mexico.

Triplets Zach, Nathan and Wes Harris started a robotic team as a trio. But the Harris Brothers thought it would be neat to share their passion with others at school and start a robotic team.  They all agreed.

"Yes, Yeah, Yes- We do. We think that robotics is one of the things that many people are going to go into and be excited about manufacturing and design and building and it's one of those things that people are wowed about." One of the brothers said.

The problem with being the only high school robotic team in New Mexico is finding others to compete with. So, the Eldorado Team is heading to Lubbock and Texas Tech this weekend to compete at the first Tech challenge. They leave the 505 with pretty big hopes.

"We'd like to win mostly, or get up there. I think it's a good goal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. At least eighth place, ‘cause then we go on to the championship."

That would take them to St. Louis. The team is hoping to encourage other New Mexico High Schools to start their own robotics teams. They say that it's a great lesson in collaboration, even if you're not triplets. Nathan thinks it doesn't hurt though.

"Being identical kind of helps. Telepathy- when you're yelling at one of these guys. It's like yelling at yourself. Plus working on a robot or building it helps teamwork."

If you're interested in lending the Eldorado Robotic Team a little support, or if you are just hungry, the Flying Star on Juan Tabo and Montgomery is hosting a "Dining For Dough" fundraiser to help the team tonight. It goes from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
