LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) - A Los Alamos woman found by police near a tree with her feet and hands bound by electrical tape is facing charges after admitting it was all a hoax.
The Los Alamos Monitor reports that 20-year-old Genevieve Salas was charged this week with making a false police report.
The charges come after Salas was found Wednesday on the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos campus by a tree with her hands bound in front of her body.
Salas told police that a tall, Latino male grabbed her and tied her up while she was walking to her car.
But police say she later told a detective that she made the whole thing up. It was unclear of Salas had hired an attorney.
