Its child abuse charges Saturday for a middle school teacher in Rio Rancho.
Police arrested Ken Boyd for allegedly verbally and physically abusing two students on Thursday.
Police arrested Boyd Saturday morning.
According to a affidavit for arrest, two students said Ken Boyd grabbed their arms and yelled at them. One student said Boyd yelled at him in class and then grabbed him by the collar of his sweatshirt. The student said when he started crying, Boyd mocked him in front of the students. The student then said Boyd dismissed the class but locked him in the classroom with the lights off.
The student called his mom and that is when police got involved.
When officers interviewed other students, another boy came forward saying Boyd abused him earlier on Thursday morning.
He told them Boyd grabbed him by the arm and forced him to the ground.
His mother talked on Saturday night about Boyd's arrest.
"I'm pretty satisfied with it. That was our main concern that there would be some consequences for what he did to our son," Mony McCarty said.
The Rio Rancho Public School spokeswoman said the school is also investigating the case and Boyd is on paid administrative leave.
